HEAVY OIL PRODUCTION WITH MICROWAVES
A practical downhole microwave tool and method of radiating the microwaves into a formation has been developed
and initial experiments carried out. (Patent Pending). This tool is illustrated above. Unlike previous microwave
concepts, small magnetrons are located in the tool. Proprietary techniques are used to make the tool small, just 2
and 7/8" in diameter, consistent with production tubing dimensions. The tool is built into an upset of production
tubing in order to make up into the tubing string with normal production techniques.
By radiation, the energy can be deposited in the formation much farther away from the well than techniques such as
resistance heating that depend on thermal conduction.
SPONSOR DESIRED
Eastlund Scientific Enterprises has a patent pending on this innovation and is looking for a corporate sponsor in the
oil industry.
